Though we are still on this journey, these are resources which have been helpful for me.
Reading
- Grace for Each Hour: Through the Breast Cancer Journey by Mary J. Nelson
Though a different form of cancer, the reflections of a woman whose faith held her through her journey was just what I needed at the beginning of our journey.
Support
- Gilda's Club,
http://www.gildasclub.org/
"Cancer support for the whole family..." This is a great place for children to get support. The membership is free after an interview with a social worker. - National Brain Tumor Society,
http://www.braintumor.org/GeneralMenu/
The free Caregiver Workshop is tremendously helpful! - A Handbook for Family Caregivers of Patients with Brain Tumors,
http://www.abta.org/siteFiles/SitePages/5DAA876556591DD6CDF0A1A801484B0E.pdf
- Organize your resources: Start a 3-ring binder or portfolio with 3-ring binder and pockets.
- Keep a couple business cards of each doctor in a business card sleeve for 3-ring binders.
- Prepare key questions for each doctor's visit and take notes of each visit.
- The Medication Log at the end is a great model. I made one in Excel for easy updating.
